Welcome to the Georgetown PTA
The Georgetown PTA promotes the education, health and safety of children and their families by building bridges between the community, our homes and our schools and intergrating the efforts of parents
with those of principals and teachers.
When you get involved with the PTA, the child who benefits most is your own! You are also taking a major step towards improving your child's school and your community.
Announcing
the PTA's
"Going Paperless" Initiative
Tired of receiving too
many papers at school?
We challenge you to help this group do its
part in reducing the amount of paper that is used in the school.
The Georgetown PTA is striving to become a paperless organization.
Please help us reach our goal by joining and encouraging Georgetown Public School System Parents to sign up for the
PTA Big Tent
Online Community.
Parents, teachers and administrators of children enrolled in the Georgetown Public School System can request an invitation

Ask Congress to Increase Funding for Parental Information and Resource Centers (PIRCs)
Contact Your Members of Congress Today!
The Parental Information and Resource Center (PIRC) funding is the only source of
federal funding intended exclusively to help schools and communities meet the requirements of parent involvement mandated in Elementary Secondary Education Act – No Child Left Behind (ESEA-NCLB). PIRCs provide parents, organizations, schools, school districts,
and state educational agencies with comprehensive training, information and support for parent involvement from early childhood through adolescence.
In the Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Act, Congress funded Parental Information and Resource Centers (PIRCs) at
$39.25 million.
This is far short of the $86 million needed annually for PIRCs to effectively implement their critical role
since their strategic reorganization in 2007, to provide state wide leadership, technical assistance, and training to support effective family engagement.
Ask your members of Congress to increase funding for PIRCs to $86 million within the FY 2010 appropriations bill, by visiting PTA Takes Action Center
